EVERRAIN

What children learn beneath the rain

Jayjo teaches through schools and through the routes, kitchens, workshops, and games that children already inhabit.

More than reading a form

Text and numbers matter: labels, names, portions, medicine, notices, and change. They are not the only literacies. Children learn load, water sound, safe heat, animal behavior, material condition, body needs, and who can be trusted with a private question.

A child can know which low passage remains safe while lacking the credential that makes an adult official listen. Conversely, someone can read every word on a form without knowing what the office will treat as consent. Artistic learning gives rhythm, drawing, story, humor, and a future larger than an assigned job.

Where a classroom fits

Outer Rim teaching shares workshop benches, kitchens, market beams, tied barges, shrine rooms, and reading circles. Zeno's lessons draw on repair and exchange; Barge's on load and water; Albino's on process and contamination; Nocturn's on visibility and protected sources; the Split's on translating different standards.

Tier 1 schools often supply meals, heat, shelter, and a record anchor alongside lessons. Eldenberry offers a wider mix of public schools, tutoring, trades, faith teaching, and art. Growth apprentices learn excellent technical skills within production discipline. Upper schools teach systems, presentation, controlled arts, institutional language, and a view of labor protected from its conditions.

Attendance can fail because of illness, a closed crossing, a sibling needing care, work, inaccessible furniture, or a classroom lost after a surge. A teacher's work includes finding absent students and keeping books and breathing equipment usable.

Books, bodies, and play

Knowledge survives in sealed pages, repaired fragments, stitched cloth books, carved tools, specimen boxes, songs, and people who remember. A library can be a dry cupboard above a kitchen or a lending cart moving between shelters. Reconstructed books may retain disagreement in the margins.

Desks, humidity, glare, scent, tools, horn clearance, tail space, floor grip, and evacuation determine who can learn. Accommodation is not a lesser standard. Children adapt games around one another and also cheat, sulk, invent nonsense, and refuse lessons. A dry place kept for useless play is a community investing in something beyond future workers.
