EVERRAIN

Rot

Curious, impulsive, and persistent: a living residual being who carries wear rather than resetting it.

Wear that stays

Rot is a Ratkin manifestation associated with neglect, entropy, and what remains in worn-out systems. His form is only partly stable. Damage and deterioration can become part of him; he does not simply return to an untouched version after every incident. The black bloom at his back belongs to that material life.

His white face has black oval eyes, sometimes slightly out of sync. Uneven rat ears break through a slouched beanie, worn with headphones. An open jacket with a bold R, long sleeves, baggy trousers, worn shoes, and a long, hairless rat tail hanging low give him the appearance of someone already halfway through a difficult day. Posture, eye movement, ears, hat, and ink flow carry the expression.

First through the door

Rot is loud, curious, and willing to investigate before the warnings have been read properly. His movement can jump into a brief stutter and then settle into stillness. He senses things instinctively; impulsiveness is not the same as having nothing to contribute. He finds openings that a more careful approach might never test.

Decay around him can be quiet: a stain, a weakened edge, a surface losing its structure. It need not arrive as an explosion. Alongside Ink, he turns that unstable relationship with the world into a working partnership. The evidence still matters. So does whether there is anything left to eat when they get back.
