EVERRAIN

A life longer than a work record

Birth, partnership, migration, aging, and chosen family make lives that cannot be reduced to one tier or role.

Who shares the recurring work

A household can include relatives, partners, former partners, friends, apprentices, fostered children, elders, neighbors, and people connected by care rather than a shared address. Lived family and recognized family do not always match. Someone may be indispensable at home and absent from every form.

New life makes infrastructure visible: clean water, safe warmth, sleep, suitable food, body-specific equipment, transport, and somebody awake. Human and Beastkin bodies do not share one reproductive or infant-care model. Registration can secure access while exposing a family to classification, so households do not all make the same decision about when to seek it.

Growing, choosing, leaving

Children learn at hand height and need room to be more than useful. Adolescence can bring a first independent crossing, key, shift, chosen name, or say in a neighborhood decision. No single rite or fixed adulthood age governs all Jayjo.

Partnership may be romantic, sexual, companionate, practical, temporary, or enduring. Affection can look like dry storage, learned body care, a safer walk home, or food made the way a person likes it. Shared need can support love or make refusal difficult. Care and shelter do not confer ownership.

Separation has practical consequences: rooms, tools, childcare, clinic recognition, visiting rights, and the names on documents. Migration changes weather knowledge, food, suppliers, language, routes, and the people who can confirm a history. A child may call home the district a parent still calls temporary.

Beyond peak usefulness

Disability changes with infrastructure and support; it is not a moral verdict. A broken brace can become a lost route, wage, or social visit. Aging changes recovery, grip, sleep, and need differently across bodies, while knowledge, desire, stubbornness, humor, and political influence continue.

Belonging appears when absence is noticed, a preference remembered, equipment fitted, and help offered without a permanent claim. A place that never permits departure is possessing its members, even if it also keeps them warm. Ordinary family debts can persist across generations; supernatural inheritance requires its own explicit recognized bridge, not bloodline blame by default.
