EVERRAIN

Tier 4 — Alderon

The upper city's invitations, gardens, and quietly moving doors hide the labor behind its ease.

Nothing looks repaired

Soft light passes through sealed glass. Composite stone shows no tide marks. Drains, reinforcement, mechanisms, and hurried maintenance disappear behind a finished surface. Alderon residents wake to climate already adjusted by people whose day began earlier.

Gardeners, cleaners, cooks, climate workers, water specialists, service crews, and couriers sustain that first impression. Rain remains visible beyond the windows or inside controlled decorative channels. Alderon cannot domesticate Everrain; it can pay to keep most consequences elsewhere.

An invitation is a route

Introductions, priority handling, corridor recognition, endorsements, discretion, and graceful exits make up an economy of access. Some doors open before a hand reaches them. Some people are offered a comfortable seat while permission disappears somewhere else.

A lost network is first felt in unanswered messages, delayed reviews, empty place cards, and invitations that stop resolving. Physical removal, when required, arrives as an escort, a private extraction, or a maintenance explanation. Gallery arrangements and lighting can change after a person falls without anyone announcing why.

Children learn materials, seating, art, and the cost of noticing too much. Households include relatives, partners, tutors, employees, artists, protégés, and dependence described as patronage. Residents can be sincere friends or believers while benefiting from an arrangement they seldom have to examine.

The work behind a meal

Selected fungi, cultured fish, garden leaves, clear broth, imported fruit, refined grain, and preserved flowers arrive through extensive supply chains. Tasting rooms and invitation dinners turn food into alliance. Genuine hospitality becomes visible in smaller freedoms: water offered without a performance, an unplanned meal, a chipped cup left on the table.

Moss walls, scent vines, courtyard pollinators, ornamental fish, soil cultures, and imported birds make living beauty. In service spaces, mites, rodents, kitchen mold, drain insects, and exhausted pollinators survive the image. One insect in a priority lobby can cause alarm because it reveals a failure everyone was meant not to see.

During flood-hour, the storm may first reach Alderon as absent staff or delayed imports. A condensation bead in the wrong place brings the lower city's reality into a room built to conceal it.
